One of the best things about joining a luxury retirement village like The Foundation Village, which is currently in development in Auckland’s prestigious Parnell, is the connections you will forge with like-minded people.
Living in central Auckland with time to enjoy all of the urban amenities and events is an ideal situation, especially when, at the end of the day, you are returning to your exceptional designer accommodation to relax and rejuvenate.
It’s time to open the door to all of the things you have dreamed of doing, and the opera should definitely be on your wishlist. Your retirement should be all about you, about widening horizons and enjoying the best the city has to offer.
Opera for culture and relaxation
The upcoming opera schedule in Auckland is a perfect example of the ways you can spend your time with new friends and old.
Along with culture and relaxation, there are thought to be therapeutic benefits for seniors who attend the opera regularly. Cognitive function is likely improved, symptoms of early dementia are potentially sidelined by attending performances, and this kind of music can be both soothing and enlivening.
Opera performances in Auckland
The Auckland Opera Studio hosts a number of fantastic performance events open to residents of the newest retirement village Parnell has to offer, many of which are performed in the traditional language of that opera. This August, the Opera Gala saw one of New Zealand’s most talented piano accompanists, Somi Kim, help to showcase arias, duets and ensembles performed by the brightest up-and-coming performers in the country.
Enjoying these traditional Italian and German pieces sung by Eliza Bloom, Oliver Sewell, and an extensive roster of excellent performers will be a pleasure not to be missed. You can join Natasha Te Rupe Wilson, Amelia Berry, Christina Orgis, Paul Whelan, James Ioelu and Emmanuel Fonoti Fuimaono as they bring Opera alive at the Opera Studio on Sunday, August 21st.
Another exceptional venue residents of The Foundation will be able to easily attend regularly is the wonderful Kiri Te Kanawa Theatre at the Aotea Centre. The incredible acoustic design of this internationally renowned theatre allows every audience member to indulge their senses as The New Zealand Opera presents a wonderful roster of performances across 2022.
This month, premiere performers Phillip Rhodes and Amanda Echalaz bring to life the roles of Macbeth and Lady Macbeth in a critically acclaimed Operatic production of Shakespeare's classic tale of ambition, betrayal and tragedy. Sung entirely in Italian, this is an opera that encompasses all of the classic wonders of the genre.
Enjoying the finer things
At The Foundation luxury retirement village under development now in Parnell, you can enjoy the finer things in life, you have the time, and you’ve earned it. Along with a wonderful meal out and a night at the opera, all our retirement residents have access to a chauffeured vehicle service to deliver you to cultural events across the city.
Additionally, if you want to spend the night in, there are many engaging options. Enjoy a game of billiards or an evening in the boutique on-site cinema, or book the private on-site chef to cater a soiree at your designer residence. There is also a swimming pool, hot tub and a rooftop terrace garden, so romance and elegance are always on the menu.
While a night in may not have quite the glamour of a night at the opera, at The Foundation, you can get pretty close.
